Cohen-Hunter papers, 1826-1913

This collection consists of the commonplace book of Cecilia Cohen, commonplace book and diary of Gratz Cohen as well as a scrapbook of Hunter, Pearce & Battey, 1890-1913. The scrapbook includes clippings, correspondence, and circulars regarding banks, cotton growing and manufacturing, naval stores, fertilizer, mutual funds, and insurance.

Cecilia Cohen was the daughter of Reverend Moses C. Cohen and sister of Solomon Cohen and Octavus Cohen. She never married. Gratz Cohen (1845-1865), the son of Solomon Cohen, was killed in action in the Civil War. Hunter, Pearce & Battey were cotton and naval stores factors and wholesale grocers.
